To create a broad and inclusive community of active citizens who, by working in the space between an appreciation of Marple's history and the unfolding social, economic and environmental changes we face as a town, can be influential in the shaping of Marple as a vibrant and sustainable place in which to lead fulfilling lives.
OUR AIMS
1 To work with our community to create a shared understanding of our current circumstances/situation and the
future challenges we face and to develop and deliver sustainable proposals to help tackle them. (community engagement)
2 To encourage the highest standards of planning and building design and townscape, and strengthen our
position as a trusted source of information and opinion on such matters. (planning)
3 To increase the diversity of our membership, improve our visibility, employ new forms of communication, and recognise what is required to remain relevant to our community. (communications).
OUR OBJECTIVES
1 Work with the people of Marple to create a shared picture of the town and our experiences of it that may serve to guide and influence plans for the future (Marple as place function)
2 Encourage the highest standards of design and planning in all works affecting Marple's future sustainable built environment and public realm by monitoring planning proposals and building outcomes (Planning function future)
3 Continue to learn about, preserve, enhance and promote those elements of our environment which help us to
understand Marple`s historical background. (Planning function past)
4 To support Marple as a happy, healthy and sustainable place to live, building awareness of the impact of
sustainability on its buildings, townscape, infrastructure and transport (Sustainability function)
5 To engage with the citizens of Marple to expand membership to become as diverse and representative as
possible (Public Profile/Representation function)
6 To develop a communications platform to facilitate public engagement and to become the first port of call for
those who want information and advice on issues affecting the built environment and public realm
(Communications function)
7 To support and engage with all those institutions having the same or similar objects in view (Liaison function)
8 To organise a team to be responsible for the management and delivery of the vision (Management function)
